Deltec calcium
reactor - calcium supply, simple, precise, continously.
The correct calcium content is a vtal requirement in keeping and growing corals
sucessfully in a marine aquaria. The calcium level ought to be in the region of 400 - 450
mg/ltr.
With the Deltec calcium reactor it is possible to adjust and
control the calcium content in a simple manner. The Deltec calcium reactor consists
of a cylindrical transparent container with circulation pump and connections for - CO2
, water inlet, water outlet, pH-electrode
Function: the suction pipe of the circulation pump has two 6mm
pipe connections. One is connected to the CO2 supply and the
other to a feed line with aquarium water.
The CO2 gas is extensively mixed in the circulating
pump with the aquarium water and continuously circulated through the calcarous material in
the reactor. As a result calcium carbonate is dissolved into calcium hyrocarbonate.
Calcium hydrocarbonate is required by hard corals for their growth. The return flow is
through a connection at the top of the calcium reactor. The flow is adjusted by means of a
shut off valve at the return line. The calcium reactor is self bleeding. If a pH
controller is available, the pH valve and therefore the calcium level in the Deltec calcium
reactor can be set and controlled automatically. For this purpose the measuring
electrode is fitted into the appropriate fitting of the Deltec calcium reactor.
